Mining resources in Geoplanetical begins with a deposit and a construction project, not an instant increase in revenue. Open Subsoil → Deposits, choose a resource and inspect a site through the prospection map. The quote tells you what the project needs, who pays and when it can begin producing.
Select a deposit and inspect the quote
In Subsoil → Deposits, choose Open prospection map after selecting the resource. Pick a location within your country's territory or its controlled offshore area.
Read the displayed reserves, required technology, added extraction capacity, price and construction time. Check the funding arrangement and Treasury contribution in the quote: company investment is not automatically spending by the state.
The official extraction-site instructions distinguish project finance from output and government receipts. An estimate based on current prices is not a guaranteed future return.
Build and wait for commissioning
Choose Start construction when the quote is available. Follow payments and project progress rather than treating authorization as a completed mine.
The site produces nothing until it is commissioned. Material shortages can delay construction, so check the project's actual status if the expected output has not appeared.
Once operating, review production and remaining reserves under Subsoil → Extraction sites. Sector ownership, taxes and company distributions affect the government's share separately; all production revenue does not automatically enter government cash.
Stop production without destroying capacity
Select an operating site to inspect its actions. Stop suspends production while retaining the installation, and Resume can restart an eligible stopped site subject to its condition.
Close site is a different decision: it removes installed capacity. The remaining resource stays underground, but returning to extraction then requires a new construction project. Neither stopping nor closing restores resources already extracted.
Check the October 29 deposit fixes
The October 29 release notes say visible resources within your territory can be mined even when the deposit extends from a neighboring country. The same update fixes deposits in conquered provinces that could not previously be mined.
If your situation matches one of those launch-period problems, use a build containing the fix before assuming the deposit itself is unusable. That update does not remove the need for the project's technology, funding and construction requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I begin a mine or extraction project?
Open Subsoil → Deposits, choose the resource and open the prospection map to select an eligible site.
Does Start construction immediately produce resources?
No. Production starts after commissioning. Follow the construction and supply requirements while the project is underway.
Can I reopen a site after closing it?
Close site removes its installed capacity. The remaining underground resource can require a new project; use Stop instead when you only intend to suspend production.
